Research

The deep reef exploration and monitoring (dream) project's primary aim is to obtain scientific data to support the study of deep reef ecosystems in UK waters. It is among the few research projects in the world utilizing technical diving techniques, mixed gas and closed circuit rebreather (CCR) technology to obtain hands-on scientific data as deep as 160 meters. Primary data, including high definition video, is made available for academic purposes to enhance the development of research goals and priorities for deep reef ecosystems in UK waters. in deep's Sean McTierney is the project's director.

Seasearch "is a national project for volunteer sports divers who have an interest in what they're seeing under water, want to learn more and want to help protect the marine environment. The main aim is to map out the various types of sea bed found in the near-shore zone around the whole of the British Isles. In addition we are recording what lives in each area, establishing the richest sites for marine life, the sites where there are problems and the sites which need protection."
